主讲人简介：
汤涛，安徽舒城人。1984年毕业于北京大学，1989年获英国利兹大学应用数学博士学位。现任南方科技大学副校长、数学讲座教授。曾长期任教于加拿大西蒙菲沙大学和香港浸会大学，并曾担任香港数学会理事长以及东亚工业与应用数学会主席。汤涛教授长期从事科学计算研究，在高精度算法和自适应网格算法领域做出了原创性工作。曾获第3届Leslie Fox 数值分析奖、第5届冯康科学计算奖、国家自然科学二等奖等多项奖励。汤涛教授于2017年当选中国科学院院士，并于2018年被邀请为国际数学家大会45分钟报告人。此外，汤涛教授还曾获选美国工业与应用数学学会会士（2012）以及美国数学会会士（2017）。
Brief Introduction of Professor Tao Tang
Tao Tang was born in Shucheng, Anhui. He graduated from Peking University in 1984 and received his Ph.D. degree at the University of Leeds in applied mathematics in 1989. Prof.Tang is currently the Vice President and Chair Professor of Mathematics of Southern University of Science and Technology.From 1990 to1998, he was a faculty member of Department of Mathematics at Simon Fraser University. He joined Hong Kong Baptist University in 1999, serving as Associate Professor (1999-2001) and Professor (2001-2015) of Mathematics. He served one term as President of the East Asia SIAM section. From 2008 to 2012, he served as the President of the Hong Kong Mathematical Society.
Prof. Tang’sresearch interests include computational fluid dynamics, scientific computation and numerical solution of partial differential equations. In recent years, his research has mainly focused on uncertainty quantification, high-order methods and numerical analysis. He has made many significant research achievements to the development of spectral & high order methods and adaptive methods. Prof. Tang was awarded the Leslie Fox Prize for numerical analysis in 1988 and the Feng Kang Prize for scientific computing in 2003. He was named Distinguished Visiting Professor by Academy of Mathematics and System Sciences (AMSS) of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. He won the Second ClassPrize of National Natural Science Award in 2014. He was elected as a fellow of Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and AmericanMathematical Society (AMS) in 2012 and 2017, respectively. In 2017, Professor Tang was elected as academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was an invited speaker of ICM in 2018.
