Detailed Rules on Speciality Transfer for Undergraduates of the School of Mathematics and Statistics in 2019

In order to promote students’ individual development, according to related provisions on speciality transfer from Provisions on the Administration of Students in Regular Institutions of Higher Education (Decree No. 41 of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China), Admission Regulations on Full-Time General Undergraduates of Wuhan University (Amendment in 2017), Regulations on Speciality Transfer for General Undergraduates of Wuhan University (Amendment) (Wu Da Ben Zi [2017] No. 50), Notice on Related Work of Speciality Transfer for Universities and Colleges from the Provincial Education Department (E Jiao Xue [2014] No. 4), combining construction planning and teaching conditions of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, this rule is made to guarantee the quality of undergraduate education in our school.

 

I. Conditions for speciality transfer

   1. Students who apply to transfer to the School of Mathematics and Statistics must conform to Regulations on Speciality Transfer for General Undergraduates of Wuhan University (Amendment) (Wu Da Ben Zi [2017] No. 50) and other related regulations on speciality transfer. At the same time there should not be any conditions that do not allow speciality transfer.

  2. Students who apply to transfer to the School of Mathematics and Statistics must meet the following conditions: 1) They must be science students in the college entrance examination; 2) There should be no failures in compulsory course examinations at Wuhan University, and GPA should be no less than 3.50.

   3. Students who apply to transfer to the 2nd level of our school must submit examination grades of Mathematics Analysis (3) and Higher Algebra and Analytical Geometry (2) of the mathematical general category of our school (including mathematical Hongyi class), and both grades can’t be less than 80, or students will only be allowed to transfer to the 1stlevel.

   4. Students who apply to transfer out of the School of Mathematics and Statistics must conform to the regulations on speciality transfer of the school related .

 

II. Rules for speciality transfer

   1. For students who apply to transfer to the 1st level of our school, our school will hold a written examination. Examination includes Higher Mathematics (Volume 1) and Linear Algebra (Reference books: Higher Mathematics (Volume 1), Chief editor: Qi Minyou, Higher Education Press, 2008; Linear Algebra 2nd Edition, Editor: Ju Yuma... Tsinghua University Press, 2002).

   2. For students who apply to transfer to the 2nd level of our school, our school will hold a written examination. Examination includes Mathematics Analysis (a 1.5 year course), Higher Algebra and Analytic Geometry (a one year course) of the School of Mathematics and Statistics.

   3. Our school will interview the students who apply to transfer to our school. The results will be classified as qualified and unqualified.

   4. For students who apply to transfer to our school, our school will calculate their final grades according to GPA (50%) of all their courses at the school and their written examination grades (50%), and choose students according to the final grades from high to low regardless of grade. Students who fail in the interview will not be accepted.

 

III. Control of the number of students transferred in

The number of transferred students will be limited to 28.

 

IV. Time schedule of speciality transfer

1. Feb 18-24, 2019. Students submit the speciality transfer application in the educational administration system of Wuhan University.

2. Feb 25, 2019. The school approves the applications of those who apply to transfer out of our school in the educational administration system.

3. Feb 26 to March 01, 2019. The School of Mathematics and Statistics examines the qualifications of students who apply to transfer to our school, and invites qualified students to take part in written examinations and interviews. We would refuse to process requests that are overdue. Students should take proof of identity  (like an identity card, a student card, or a campus card) when taking part in the written examination and interview.

4. March 02--07, 2019. The school approves and publishes the list of students who are allowed to specialty transfer on the Undergraduate College website.

5. March 08, 2019. Students who are allowed to transfer to the School of Mathematics and Statistics handle the procedures related to speciality transfer.

 

Other uncovered matters shall be handled in accordance with the school’s relevant provisions.
